Saturday 20th November

Despite missing a couple of players the team played out an entertaining high scoring draw with Southcott Owls.

We kicked off and immediately began to pass the ball around well but initially lacked an attacking edge.  However Owen opened the scoring from close range after a cross came in from the left.

Southcott responded and equalised but Owen was again on the right spot from close range to score from a fee kick from Lewis.  Before half-time Southcott came back again to draw level again to make the score 2-2 at the break.

The second half began with us again playing good football and despite missing a couple of early chances we took the lead again.  Owen looking for his hat-trick shot from the edge of the area but the ball deflected off a defender and looped up into the air and bounced down from the crossbar but Matthew showed good instincts by following in and the ball came off him and dropped over the line.

Southcott were also looking dangerous going forward with players running at pace against our defence and after drawing level again then took the lead for the first time in the match.

We responded well and again came back after a great run down the right hand side and a good cross from Caden an unfortunate defender turned the ball into his own net.  Then with only a few minutes to go Southcott the took the lead again to make it 4-5.

The lads showed great character again to come back though and with only a minute to go Ollie and Caden worked the ball well from a corner and then found Lewis on the edge of the area.  Lewis' well struck first time shot found the inside of the far post and went in to bring the game level again.

The game finished and after it swung towards both teams during the match it ended in a well deserved 5-5 draw.

We again played some good football at times and the work rate and character of the team was excellent especially having a couple of players missing and going behind in the game twice late on to come back and secure the draw.

The Man of the Match award was again a difficult decision but after being unwell earlier in the week Owen put in a great hard working performance and was also rewarded with a couple of goals.
